How do I use the ebrary search engine?
ebrary offers a number of different search options. With Simple Search, you can search across the full-text of a document, the subject, the contributor (author) and title simply by entering words in the search field in the left-hand frame, then use the search results list to select a document to view. See the Simple Search help section for details. When you choose a document, ebrary InfoTools will present the first page containing your search within that document and allow you to go directly to all subsequent occurrences.
Choose Advanced Search to narrow your search by specifying a specific title, publisher, contributor (author) or subject. You can also refine your search by creating an advanced search from the Search Results list. See the Advanced Search help section for details.
In a simple search, all occurrences of your search words will be highlighted. With an advanced search, only the search terms that you specify as text will be highlighted.
Once you are viewing a document you can search within it, or across all documents using InfoTools.
How can I search for a specific text phrase?
You can put your search phrase in quotes (ie.: "Thomas Jefferson" or "Persian Gulf War"). This rule applies to both ebrary's Simple and Advanced Search options. If you do not put your phrase in quotation marks, ebrary will search for every occurrence of each word.
